Scented Candles for Every Occasion | Articles Bright
May 16th, 2012Scented candles are the most well-liked sort of candle acquired today. These candles can change your mood and provide lighting. In renovation, candles can uplift the look and aesthetics of any room, especially the ones that are fantastically designed.
Giving Candles as Gifts
This type of candle is adored by everybody. Even folks who’ve sensitivities to perfumes or spray fragrances can enjoy candles with a perfume. They are really good to have available because they can be given as an impulse gift that any person can enjoy. Just like photograph frames, personalised mugs and ties, you can never go wrong with giving somebody a candle. What’s best is you may also tailor the present to the individual by selecting a fragrance they like.
Another neat idea, and a good idea if you don’t know the person’s favourite smell, is to choose a scent that corresponds to the occasion. Pick spiced apples & cinnamon, gingerbread, or pine tree smells for Christmas gifts. Chocolate smells or rose smells make nice Valentine’s Day gifts. Especially if the individual you are purchasing for is watching their weight. Another lovable idea is a birthday cake scented candle as a present.
Smells of Candles Available
These days you can find just about any smell in a candle form. The most typical scents sold in stores are cucumber melon, coffee, apples & cinnamon, white linen, fresh rain, lavender, vanilla, and cookies. But there are lots of oddly-scented candles available on the market for purchase also. Think fresh cut grass, new automobile smell, or doughnuts. My suggestion is to try as much as possible. You’d be surprised which of them are most pleasing to you. Some may even bring up a bit of nostalgia. We link smells to a surprising quantity of our life experiences.
You may purchase candles in the perfume of your favorite scent. Whether you like fruity, sweet, or clean scents, there’s a smell out there for you.
How Candles Can Affect Your Mood
Coming home from work to a nicely scented home can set you at ease. By choosing fragrances that specifically cause peace in the mind, you can allow your body and mind to relax farther. For peace, good scents are white tea, green tea, lavender, vanilla, and sea smells.
Research has proven that sweet smells put us in the mood for romance. You may consider chocolate, coffee, cookies, or cake. Your loved one will soften away in your arms.
To uplift your mood and energy, there are candles that hint of lemon, cinnamon, and fresh linens.
Differing Kinds of Candle Wax
Some waxes are superior because they burn slower making your fragrance in addition to your light, last longer. Palm wax candles burn slow and are cheap in cost. These candles are rather more efficient all around. There are also soy-based candle waxes and candles made out of beeswax.
Candles have come a good distance apropos use. They may be employed as gift to form nostalgia, relax our minds, make our homes smell better, and of course, even for light. Candles with scent are now sold in grocery stores, drugstores, and on the internet. If you haven’t tried candles with scent before, you are missing something. Scented candles are now a complicated part of the household, so you should generally keep one or two available!
I adore using Candles to have that fantastic relaxation in my living room. If you want to find out where I get my special candles from, then visit the United Kingdom’s premier candle wholesaler and in depth range of handmade candles.

Candles Online » Yankee Candles – Q2 Collection 2012
May 15th, 2012I adore Yankee Candles. They are probably my second favorite candles after Trapp Candles. I am a fruity and fresh kind of gal so I love all the delicious scents they offer. I’m especially in love with their bright and crisp Spring and Summer scents such as Cherry Lemonade and Black Cherry. What can I say, I’m on a cherry kick right now!
One thing I am dying to try is their new Summer and Spring scents. I have not smelled the Meyer Lemon, Fruit Fusion or Wild Passion Fruit yet, but I cannot wait to do so soon! I plan to make a trip to the Yankee store this week and do a little spending.
I found this video on youtube today that is a quick commercial for their Q2 scents, which is the scents available in the UK. Enjoy and let me know what your favorite Yankee scent is:

Candles Online » Yankee Candle Haul – Citrus Scents
May 15th, 2012I adore citrus, fruity and fresh candle scents. They are hands down my favorites as I am not a flower scented type of girl. I find the flowery scents give me a splitting headache and the fruit and fresh scents are just perfect for me! I also love this time of year as the candle companies are putting out primarily light, fresh and fruity scents. I can only take so much caramels, sugars and heavy Autumn/Winter scents.
In this video the host talks about some Yankee candles she purchased. I find it helpful to watch some of these videos about scent reviews because I do not want to waste my money! So here are the scents that she covers:
- Meyer Lemon
- Vanilla Lime
- Lemon Zest
- Kiwi Berries
- Orchard Pear
- Macintosh Spice
I like that she includes a rant in this video – I think $27.99 for one Yankee candle is ridiculous too! That is just too much. Watch the video and let us know your thoughts on it:

How vegetable oil came to replace animal fats in the American diet …
May 13th, 2012An excerpt from the book “The Happiness Diet”, via The Atlantic:
“Before highways and before railroads, America conducted her commerce via steamship over water through a system of rivers, canals, and lakes. In the 1800s, Cincinnati was the heart of the developed United States. At the time it was known to the world as Porkopolis. That’s because not so long ago, the most widely consumed meat in this nation was swine.
This was before refrigeration. The biggest enemy of 19th-century butchers was spoilage. Eating cows didn’t make a whole lot of sense: Distributing the meat of a freshly killed 1,500-pound animal before it went bad was difficult without roads and temperature-controlled trains. But pigs are fatty, which makes them excellent for salt curing because they don’t lose flavor.
Cincinnati is on the Ohio River, which flows to the Mississippi River, which leads to the ever-important port of New Orleans. From the mouth of the mighty Mississippi, Porkopolis distributed meat throughout the coastal southern United States. The by-products of pork production meant that the burgeoning metropolis was also home to many tanneries, boot makers, and upholsters. Animal fats were hot commodities, as they were rendered and molded into soap and candles. Breaking down pigs was a highly efficient process known as the disassembly line — an idea that would later be reverse-engineered by Henry Ford to produce automobiles.
A major economic depression in the 1870s caused two important citizens of Porkopolis to join forces in order to cut costs and survive the bear market. They formed a company that would eventually be responsible for the greatest dietary shift in our country’s history. William Procter brought his candle-making business to the states after a fire destroyed his business in England. James Gamble fled Ireland during the Great Potato Famine and became a soap manufacturer. In a twist of fate, the two men happened to marry sisters in Cincinnati. Together, the brothers-in-law formed Procter & Gamble, a soap- and candle-manufacturing operation….”

Gift Card Girlfriend | Hit the Target this Mother's Day
May 11th, 2012
Target is a great, last-minute place to buy a gift card for Mother’s Day.
For me, Target is more than a store–it’s an experience. Unlike Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and other discount retailers who just want me to buy things, Target ushers me into the store with fountain drinks at the ready, returns that are easy, and designer duds at a discount. For these reasons and more, I’d rather shop Target than most other places.
Dress up a Target Gift Card
Target also does a good job of turning their gift cards into little gifts. Though not all come with an accessory, many do. Some, like the one shown, also contain a message.
Because of the cute floral pattern, I’d do one of the following with a Target gift card on Mother’s Day:
- Prop the flower gift card up in a potted plant
- Tie the gift card to a watering can (Target has several and they are SO cute.)
- Slip the gift card inside a new pair of gardening gloves
- Pair the flower card with a garden scented candle or air freshener
And don’t worry if Mom doesn’t like the accessory you selected. Target takes back almost anything. Maybe I’ll see you in the return line this Monday.
